Common questions
Can I edit the text that's already in the PDF?
No, and no browser tool genuinely can. Changing existing text means re-subsetting embedded fonts and reflowing the layout, which needs the full document model and is why the tools that manage it run on servers. This adds marks and text on top of the page, which is what most free PDF editors actually do.
Can I fill in a form with it?
Yes, if the form is a printed one — place text where the boxes are and it prints exactly right. A PDF with real interactive form fields is better filled in your PDF reader, which will keep the fields intact.
Will my marks be permanent?
They are drawn into the page, so they appear anywhere the file is opened. They sit on top of the original content rather than replacing it, so nothing underneath is lost.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. Every PDF tool here runs inside your browser. The file is read from disk, worked on in memory, and written back out — it is never sent to a server. That matters more for documents than photos: contracts, statements and ID scans are exactly the things you should not be uploading to a stranger's website.
