How do I resize an image to an exact width?
Type the width you need into the width box. The height follows automatically so the picture keeps its proportions. If you need an exact height too, untick the proportions box and set both — though the picture will stretch.
What is the difference between resizing and compressing?
Resizing changes the width and height in pixels. Compressing keeps the dimensions and reduces how many kilobytes the file takes. People often want compression when they say resize — if a form asked for a number in KB rather than pixels, use the image compressor instead.
Does resizing an image reduce quality?
Making it smaller does not — you are discarding pixels you no longer need, and the result usually looks crisp. Making it larger does, because the browser can only stretch the pixels that exist. It cannot invent detail that was never captured.
Will resizing make the file smaller?
Usually a lot smaller, because file size scales roughly with pixel count — halving both dimensions leaves a quarter of the pixels. Reducing dimensions is the most effective way to shrink a photo, which is why it often beats compressing harder.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
