Common questions
Why does my photo look sideways in some apps but not others?
Cameras often store a photo in its raw sensor orientation and add an EXIF flag saying how to turn it. Apps that read the flag show it correctly; apps that ignore it show it sideways. Rotating here re-writes the actual pixels, so every app agrees.
Does rotating lose quality?
A quarter turn is lossless in terms of pixels — they are simply moved. Rotating by an arbitrary angle has to resample the image, which softens it very slightly, and JPGs are re-encoded when saved.
How do I straighten a crooked photo?
Use the straighten slider rather than the quarter-turn buttons. It rotates by fractions of a degree and scales the picture just enough to avoid leaving empty corners, which is why straightening always crops in a little.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The work happens in your browser using image APIs it already ships with, so the file never leaves your device. There is no upload to wait for and nothing stored on a server afterwards.
