Common questions
Does cropping reduce quality?
No. Cropping copies the selected pixels exactly as they are — nothing is rescaled. The result is smaller in both dimensions and file size simply because there are fewer pixels in it.
How do I crop a photo to a square?
Pick the 1:1 ratio above the crop controls. The selection locks to a square and stays square while you move and resize it, so you can position it without watching the numbers.
Will a cropped PNG keep its transparent background?
Yes. The file is written back out in the format it came in, so transparency survives.
