Common questions
What quality should I use for a JPG?
80% is the sensible default and where this tool starts. Above 90% you pay a lot of file size for detail nobody sees; below about 50% you start noticing soft blocks around edges and in flat areas like sky.
Does compressing a JPG twice make it worse?
Yes. JPG is lossy, so every save discards a little more and the losses accumulate. Always compress from the original rather than from a file you already compressed.
